The claustrophobic thriller ‘IRON DOORS’ directed by Strphan Manual which explores the sanity, determination, spirit and will of a man locked away to ponder his fate is going to be released in US and Canada by MVD and Gravitas in 2013 with a DVD street date set for February 19th.
The script for this intense psychological thriller is penned by Peter Arneson. The minimal cast includes Axel Wedenkind as the man trapped behind the Iron Doors and Rungan Nyoni co-stars as a fellow prisoner hidden behind the cell walls.
The story of the film revolves around an investment banker who faces a slow death by starvation after being locked in a vault. Who kidnapped him and why? How can he escape the concrete walls and massive iron door that confine him? His journey of self discovery has only just begun and his fight for survival will teach him values in life he previously thought impossible.
Filmed in one location over twelve days, ‘IRON DOORS’ has drawn comparisons to SAW, BURIED, EXAM and OPEN WATER, but whilst the premise might seem familiar, the execution is anything but, with the protagonist eating maggots from the body of a decomposing rat and drinking his own urine in order to stave off hunger and dehydration.
‘IRON DOORS’ has been well received on the film festival circuit winning Best Film at Haapsalu Film Festival in Estonia, Best Actor at Fantasporto and Best Cinematography at the European Independent Film Festival in Paris.
‘IRON DOORS’ will also be available on all digital and VOD platforms in North America courtesy of Gravitas Ventures.
