Tribeca films acquired the North American rights for ‘Black Forest: Hansel and Gretel & the 420 Witch’, the teen comedy horror from Twilight producer Mark Morgan. The film stars Lara Flynn Boyle (Men in Black II), Molly Quinn (Castle), Michael Welch (The Twilight Saga), Cary Elwes (Saw) and Yancy Butler (Kick-Ass).

Tribeca will release the film on all platforms starting with a VOD preview on February 19th followed by a theatrical release on February 22nd. Meanwhile, MG Distribution has acquired all rights to Black Forest for Former Yugoslavia and will release theatrically later in 2013.

The film tells the story of Agnes, a little old lady from Pasadena, grows the best weed in town, but when Gretel's stoner boyfriend goes missing; she tracks him down to a suburban house where she discovers Agnes using his soul to revive her youth and beauty. Gretel’s attempts to rescue him are thwarted by the arrival of a drug gang who threaten Agnes with a turf war. The ensuing battle pitches Mexican homies against a Nazi witch, a hound from hell and a pack of rabid zombies.

“The situations, characters and dialogue are hilarious, but when it comes to the gory bits, it's actually quite shocking” says Jinga’s Rosana Coutinho.
