Hong Kong FILMART 2017 – Asia’s Largest Entertainment Market Kicks starts at Hong Kong Convention Centre.

After concluding the yet another celebrated 20th edition, Asia’s Largest Entertainment Market – Hong Kong FILMART is all set to open doors for its 21st edition at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13 – 16 March 2017. Renowned as premium platform for entertainment business, Hong Kong FILMART has created a niche for itself among world industry players.
The 20th edition of Hong Kong FILMART witnessed yet another record breaking success in terms of both participation of exhibitors and visitors at the market from all parts of the world. The market saw participation of about 800 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, over 200 Chinese exhibitors and over 7300 visitors from 60 countries and regions. The market also included 36 group pavilions including first time national pavilions from Macau, Middle East and Spain. Those who returned with their pavilions in 2016 included Canada, Chinese mainland, EU, France, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, United Kingdom and Vietnam etc. Featuring a one-stop-shop concept to host various elements of the industry under one roof, a significant portion of exhibition included with business related to TV, digital animation, professional equipment as well as post production services.
This year FILMART 2017 shall witness presence of 800+ exhibitors, 30+ major pavilions and 300+TV related exhibitors driven with stronger local and international support. FILMART expects participation of more than more than 7,300 delegates from 60 countries and regions including visitors from emerging markets such as India, Indonesia, Philippines, Russia, South Africa and Cambodia. Visitors from Afghanistan, Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Iran, and Mongolia. FILMART also anticipates buying missions from about 10 countries and regions, including Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Major Film industry players including China 3D Digital Distribution Limited, Media Asia Distribution, Pegasus Motion Pictures, Universe Films Distribution, Emperor Motion Pictures etc shall return once again to show their keen support to FILMART. Other big names who shall join the FILMART include Digital Domain (post production), Fantastic Television Limited and Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific Limited.
With a strong international flair and focus, FILMART shall welcome representation of over 30 countries and regions. Besides participation from world’s leading markets such as the U.S., France, Europe, UK, Korea and Japan, 300 exhibitors from 17 “Belt and Road” countries, including the Chinese mainland, Cambodia, Czech Republic, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam shall also participate in the event. This year, FILMART shall focus on 7 ASEAN countries including the return of Thai Pavilion and Indonesia exhibitors.
Sponsored by CreateHK, HKDE Pavilion will return with over 30 local companies involving in various sectors of digital entertainment, including animation production, visual & digital effects, post production, mobile application as well as new media (including 360 shooting & VR) and interactive content development.
An experiential zone will be set up in the HKDE Pavilion to highlight the exhibitors’ creativities and excellence of services. FILMART visitors will be able to experience the VR technologies crossing over with animation characters contributed by the exhibitors. Networking among industry players with the HKDE exhibitors shall also be facilitated during a cocktail reception which will be held on 15 Mar (Day 3) afternoon. A total of over 120 exhibitors providing digital entertainment related content and services, covering countries and regions including Japan, Korean and France shall also participate this year.
A series of more than 70 special events including thematic conferences, networking cocktails, press conferences, film premieres and award presentations are expected to be organised during the 4- day fair period. Thematic conferences would feature discussions on topics such as Chinese Film Market, Online Entertainment, Documentary, TV & OTT, VR & VFX technologies, Animation and Co-production. Around 30 international industry veterans shall join the conference as speakers making it a perfect platform for Market intelligence sharing. The 15th HAF Awards Presentation Ceremony and the 4th Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music) Awards Presentation Ceremony would continue to be held in FILMART to promote and highlight the productions of new talents of the movie industry. Market Screenings will also take place in screening venues in HKCEC and offsite venues, namely UA Cine Times (Times Square, Causeway Bay) and The CINEMA in the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Around 40 World & International Premieres will be screened at FILMART including Berlin Film Festival 2017 award-winning titles, Golden Horse 2016 award-winning titles and other documentary titles.
Other concurrent events which shall be held along with FILMART include the 13th edition of Entertainment Expo Hong Kong (“EEHK”) scheduled from 13 Mar – 25 Apr 2017. Core events include Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival (HKAMF), IFPI Hong Kong Top Sales Music Award, IFVA (Incubator for Film & Visual Media in Asia Festival), The 10 th Asian VFX and Digital Cinema Summit, Digital Entertainment Summit and TV World International Forum.
