Neil Patrick Harris joins Keanu Reeves in ‘Matrix 4’

Neil Patrick Harris / All Lights Film MagazineHollywood star Neil Patrick Harris has officially joined the cast of the Keanu Reeves-starrer ‘Matrix 4’, it has been reported.

Lana Wachowski, who directed all the three films in the franchise with sister Lilly, will write and helm the new project.

According to Variety, the details of Harris' role has not yet been disclosed, but fans of the franchise will see Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity.

Aquaman’ star Yahya Abdul-Mateen will also star in the film in one of the lead roles.

Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell have co-written the script with Lana Wachowski. She is also attached to produce with Grant Hill.

The first, ‘Matrix’ film released in 1999 and was followed by ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix Revolutions’. The films depicted a dystopian future where artificial beings take over the human race, which is unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality, called the Matrix.

The trilogy collectively earned over USD 1.6 billion worldwide.
